The 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans featured the dramatic presence of the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer endurance program, including the striking Ferrari 512 BB/LM entered by private teams in the Group 5/GT category. Among these entries was car number 49, part of the growing Ferrari 512 BB/LM Le Mans field that brought high-performance Italian GT engineering to the world’s most famous endurance race.

Based on the road-going Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer, the 512 BB/LM was heavily modified for endurance competition by Ferrari’s customer racing programs.
